The King’s Secret is a retelling of a Welsh folktale about a King who has horse’s ears.

In this humorous version the King reveals his secret to a hairdresser sworn to secrecy in order to cut his ridiculously long hair, but the secret starts to eat her up inside when the King’s new do makes front page news and becomes the talk of the town.

Early the next morning she walks out into the countryside to whisper the secret to the reeds. A piper passes by moments later and decides to make a new pipe for the King’s “new do” ceremony but when he goes to play the pipe, it sings out the King’s secret…

The King has no choice but to reveal his fabled ears to everyone… only no one really cares that he has horse’s ears! They feast for days, dance for weeks, and the month was renamed March in commemoration of the King’s month long party.
